Welcome to my world of Neopog Art

Hello! I'm Nicky and I am the creator and face behind Neopog Art. Thank you for being here! I live in Wrexham, North Wales with my husband and 6 rescue cats.

I focus on the styles of mandala, dot painting and fluid art on a variety of materials including wood, ceramic, canvas and my very own plaster cast creations.

I have always been inspired by the world around me, especially nature and anything symbolic, sacred, abstract, or spiritual. I love everything from the weird, dark and gothic through to the wonderful, bright and colourful.

This is refelected in my work with some of my hand crafted plaster creations which include Ram Skull wall decor and painted plaster skulls.

In addition, Neopog Art Spooky Ghosts...

On the more colourful, quirky and nature inspired side of things, I can create a variety of handmade ornaments which include art stones, hearts, mushrooms, owls, snail shells, gonks and turtles.

Tealight holders and bohemian style lidded trinket pots have also been made, along with commissions completed on hand painted furniture such as this Mandala Table below.

There is something quite therapeutic about creating a dot mandala. I go in with that centre dot and then go on a journey letting the mind wonder as I just let it flow working outwards. It is super relaxing and a great form of meditation.

What are dot paintings?

Dot paintings are internationally recognized as a unique and integral to Australian Aboriginal Art, I would say I draw great influence from this in some of my work. The dottism technique can give the painting an almost 3D effect and a sense of movement and rhythm, particularly when using the finer detail of microdots or pointillism.

What is a Mandala?

Mandala (Sanskrit for “circle” or “discoid object) is a diagram, chart or geometric pattern that represents the cosmos metaphysically or symbolically - A complex abstract design that is usually circular in form. In various spiritual traditions, mandalas may be employed for focusing attention of practitioners and adepts, as a spiritual guidance tool, for establishing a sacred space and as an aid to meditation and trance induction. When painting in either of these styles, I take great care in choosing the colours to ensure that they are meaningful to the piece being created.
